Features

Cabot Problem-Solver Wood Stripper #8004 is specially formulated to remove oil-based finishes from all wood surfaces such as cedar, redwood, pine, cypress, fir and pressure-treated wood. Requires neutralization with Cabot Problem-Solver Wood Brightener #8003. Cabot Problem-Solver Wood Stripper #8005 for water-based paints and stains is a distinctive, gel-like solution that quickly softens virtually any type of water-based finishes from exterior surfaces. Easy to use and environmentally safe, this product is ideal for cedar, redwood, pine, cypress, mahogany, teak, fir and pressure-treated wood. Both Wood Strippers are biodegradable.

Coverage

One gallon of Cabot Problem-Solver Wood Stripper #8004 will strip approximately 150-200 square feet of weathered oil finish. Wood Stripper #8005 will strip approximately 75-100 square feet. These rates may vary depending on porosity of the surface.

Where to Use

It is ideal for use on wood decks, siding, fences, railings, steps and outdoor furniture.

Preparing Your Surfaces

Because it is difficult to determine the condition of the oil-based coating to be stripped, test the undiluted stripper on a small area to determine its effectiveness. Use Cabot Problem-Solver Stripper #8005 to remove latex paints, stains and finishes. Cabot Problem-Solver Wood Stripper is an oil-based paint, stain and varnish remover. It will remove paint or stain on adjacent surfaces not intended to be stripped. Apply liberally and evenly on a dry, cool surface using a brush, roller or pump-type sprayer. Let stand for a minimum of 15 minutes. Do not allow the stripper to dry. If it begins to dry, lightly mist with a garden hose. Rinse thoroughly with a garden hose with the nozzle at maximum pressure or use a pressure-washing unit. Do not exceed 1000 psi (pounds per square inch).

Application

When applying and rinsing Cabot Problem-Solver Wood Stripper, walking surfaces, ladders and scaffolding may become slippery. Rinse all such surfaces thoroughly to remove overspray. Use wrap-around goggles with side shields, rubber gloves and protective footwear for protection from harmful chemicals. Remove any contaminated clothing immediately.

Exterior Surface Prep

The first step in any exterior wood project should always be proper surface preparation.
